About the Business
Gumbies was born in Manly, New South Wales, Australia in the early 1990's when Gumbies owner and founder Michel Maurer was travelling and noticed the lifestyle footwear many people where wearing. Later seeing a need for a quality, new different footwear for the UK and European market Michel worked from 2000 for a few years developing products that was very different to anything on the market and has since had that design registered ensuring only quality Gumbies products are made in his factory. Michel's journey from the experiences of travel, sports and exploration lead him to design, develop and manufacture what we believe as many customers do in Europe and UK to be the best all round simplistic footwear one will ever own. Gumbies was developed with a passion for outdoor life, the freedom of minimalistic, practical footwear ultimately protecting the sole. All made using the most practical, natural and recycled, planet friendly materials as possible.
